3D leadership experience

Over a two‑decade career, I have worked across politics in Scotland and Westminster before moving into senior roles in consultancy and major UK charities.

I specialise in transforming organisations, individuals and teams. I have led major shifts in how national and local healthcare systems are influenced, always grounding my approach in systems leadership and the credibility needed to deliver lasting change.

I’ve been trusted to deliver restructures, cultural and leadership improvements, and whole‑organisation operating model design. I’ve held senior leadership roles leading large teams across a diverse range of disciplines including public affairs, policy, strategic evidence, strategy, impact, project management, finance and assurance.

My impact on people has often been described as “career defining”. I believe fundamentally that meaningful impact only comes from carefully developing the people and teams responsible for delivering it. That’s why I’ve spent many years—from recruiting and managing a brand‑new apprentice in 2008 through to leading large departments with multi‑million‑pound budgets—prioritising the development and progression of those I work alongside. I’ve coached and mentored countless emerging leaders, including through the NHS/GIRFT Stroke Leadership Academy and UKRI’s Policy Fellowship programme.

I understand that careers are rarely linear and are often shaped by uncertainty and setbacks—many of which I’ve experienced myself. I worked for a long time in my local chippy and, after trying and failing to join the police, rebuilt my confidence working in a sandwich bar. Since then, I’ve worked for a high-profile MP, was deputy head of the Liberal Democrats’ Parliamentary Support Unit during the Coalition Government and was deputy/associate director-level at Stroke Association, Hanover Communications and Alzheimer’s Society, building award-winning and impactful teams which delivered real-world impact.

I believe strongly in the privilege of managing and leading others. Having been given that responsibility early in my career, I love supporting early‑career and emerging leaders as they navigate their own journeys.

Passionate about the outdoors, I serve on the board of trustees of Scottish Mountain Rescue and can often be found roaming the hills. After stints in Glasgow and London, I now live in Perthshire with my young family.
